Artist Statement
Trekker Burt is a film photographer from the southwestern United States. A strong connection with the land, especially the deserts of southern Utah, permeates his photographs. Through his work, viewers are invited to consider themes of quiet spirituality and impermanence. Trekker is intentional with his art, and hopes to evoke stillness with every image.
Biography
Trekker has been a visual artist for most of his life, but did not begin seriously taking photos until college, when he was given a Nikon DSLR from a friend. After a few stints doing family and wedding pictures, he realized that he was motivated by the art of the picture rather than the paycheck of commercial photography (not that it ever paid well!).
Trekker lives in Iron County, Utah, with his wife, daughter, and pug. They love family trips to the surrounding deserts, hunting for petroglyphs, and the history of the southwestern United States.
